Advantan is glucocorticoid, antiallergic, anti-inflammatory. Helps relieve itching, reduce inflammation and irritation, and promotes skin healing.

The main difference between the forms of Advantan is their composition and texture, which determines which skin type and problem each form is suitable for. The ointment is more dense and suitable for dry, flaky skin, the cream has a light texture and is better for oily or inflamed skin, and the emulsion is for large, moist areas and burns.

The active ingredient of Advantan, methylprednisolone aceponate, is a non-halogenated steroid. When administered topically, Advantan® suppresses inflammatory and allergic skin reactions, as well as reactions associated with increased proliferation, which leads to a decrease in objective symptoms of inflammation (including erythema, edema, swelling) and subjective sensations (including itching, irritation, pain).

Indications:

Skin diseases (including chronic course), amenable to GCS therapy for external use, in adults and children aged 4 months and older:

• Atopic dermatitis, neurodermatitis.
• True eczema.
• Contact dermatitis.
• Allergic dermatitis.
• Dyshydrotic eczema.
• Microbial eczema.
• Degenerative eczema.

How to take, course and dosage:

The preparation is applied 1 times a day in a thin layer on the affected skin areas.

Continuous daily use of Advantan in the form of ointment is for adults no more than 12 weeks, for children - no more than 4 weeks.

Ointment is prescribed for the treatment of skin diseases that are not accompanied by weeping and in the presence of infiltration, in which a dosage form with a balanced ratio of fat and water is necessary. Advantan in the form of an ointment makes the skin slightly oily without heat and moisture retention.

Overdose:

Acute toxicity studies of methylprednisolone aceponate did not reveal any risk of acute intoxication with excessive single topical administration (application over a large area under conditions favorable for absorption) or inadvertent oral administration.

Symptoms: with excessively long and/or intensive local use of GCS, skin atrophy may develop (thinning of the skin, telangiectasia, striae).

Treatment: drug withdrawal.
