COSOPTŪ contains two active ingredients: dorzolamide hydrochloride and timolol maleate. Each of these two components reduces elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) by reducing aqueous humour secretion, but through different mechanisms of action.

Indications:

For the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure in open angle glaucoma and pseudoexfoliative glaucoma when monotherapy is ineffective or for ophthalmohypertension when beta-adrenoblocker therapy has failed

How to take, course of treatment and dosage:

COSOPT is administered in ONE drop into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye (or both eyes) twice daily.

If COSOPT is administered as a substitute for another ophthalmic drug for the treatment of glaucoma, the latter should be discontinued the day before starting COSOPT therapy.

If used together with another topical ophthalmic drug, COSOPT should be applied at least 10 minutes apart.

Nasolacrimal occlusion (eyelid closure) for 2 minutes after injection reduces its systemic absorption, which may lead to increased local action.

COSOPT is a sterile solution and patients should therefore be instructed on the correct use of the vial.
