Isoprinosine is a synthetic complex purine derivative with immunostimulatory activity and non-specific antiviral action.

It restores lymphocyte functions under immunosuppression, increases blastogenesis in monocytic cell population, stimulates expression of membrane receptors on T-helper surface, prevents decrease in lymphocytic cell activity under glucocorticosteroids influence, normalizes thymidine incorporation into cells.

When used in combination, it increases the effect of interferon-alpha, the antiviral agents acyclovir and zidovudine.

How to take, course of treatment and dosage:

Taken orally.

Adults: 500 mg to 4 g/day.

Children aged 3 to 12 years: 50 mg/kg/day.

In adults as well as in children in case of severe infectious diseases the dose can be increased individually up to 100 mg/kg of body weight/day, divided into 4-6 doses. Maximal daily dose for adults is 3-4 g, for children - 50 mg/kg/day.

Frequency of administration, course of treatment, frequency of repeated courses depends on indications, course of disease, treatment regimen.
