Isoprinosine is a synthetic complex purine derivative with immunostimulatory activity and non-specific antiviral action.

It restores lymphocyte functions under immunosuppression, increases blastogenesis in monocytic cell population, stimulates expression of membrane receptors on T-helper surface, prevents decrease in lymphocytic cell activity under glucocorticosteroids influence, normalizes thymidine incorporation into cells.

• cytomegalovirus infection;
• measles with a severe course;
• papillomavirus infection: laryngeal/voice ligament papillomas (fibrous type), genital papillomavirus infection in men and women, warts;
• molluscum contagiosum;
• subacute sclerosing panencephalitis.

How to take, course of treatment and dosage:

Orally, after a meal, with a small (about 1/2 cup) of water.

The recommended dose for adults and children from 3 years of age (body weight of 15-20 kg) is 50 mg/kg/day, divided into 3-4 doses. For adults - 6-8 tablets/day, for children - 1/2 tablet/5 kg/day. In severe forms of infectious diseases, the dose can be increased individually to 100 mg/kg/day, divided into 4-6 doses. The maximum daily dose for adults is 3-4 g/day, for children 50 mg/kg/day.

Duration of treatment

In acute conditions: the duration of treatment in adults and children is usually from 5 to 14 days. The treatment should be continued until clinical symptoms disappear and for 2 more days if there are no symptoms. If necessary, the treatment duration can be extended individually under the supervision of a physician.

In chronic relapsing disease in adults and children, treatment should be continued in several courses of 5-10 days with a break of 8 days.

For maintenance therapy, the dose can be reduced to 500-1000 mg/day (1-2 tablets) for 30 days.

In herpes infection in adults and children it is prescribed for 5-10 days until disappearance of symptoms, in asymptomatic period - 1 tablet 2 times a day during 30 days for decrease of relapses.

In papillomavirus infection in adults, 2 tablets 3 times a day and in children - 1/2 tablet/ 5 kg/day in 3-4 times during 14-28 days as monotherapy.

For recurrent acute condyloma in adults, 2 tablets 3 times a day and for children - 1/2 tablet/ 5 kg/day in 3-4 visits per day either as monotherapy or in combination with surgical treatment for 14-28 days and then with triple repetition of the indicated course at intervals of 1 month.

In cases of cervical dysplasia associated with human papillomavirus it is indicated as 2 tablets 3 times daily for 10 days and then there are 2-3 similar courses given at 10-14-day intervals.

Special patient groups

Older age. No dose adjustment is required in elderly patients and the drug is used in the same manner as in patients of middle age. It should be taken into account that elderly patients more often have increased concentration of uric acid in serum and urine than patients of middle age.

Children. The drug is used in children over 3 years old.

Renal and hepatic insufficiency. During treatment with the drug, control of uric acid in serum and urine should be carried out every 2 weeks. Control of liver enzymes activity is recommended every 4 weeks during long-term treatment with the drug.
