Protopic ointment is an anti-inflammatory ointment for external use.

Indications:

• Treatment of atopic dermatitis (moderate to severe) in cases of insufficient response or contraindications to conventional treatment.

In adults 0.03% and 0.1% Protopic ointment is used; in children from 2 to 16 years of age 0.03% ointment is used.

How to take, course of treatment and dosage:

Adults and children over 2 years of age apply Protopic ointment in a thin layer to the affected areas of the skin. The product can be applied to all parts of the body, including the face and neck, in skin folds. Do not apply to mucous membranes or under occlusive dressings.

In children and adolescents aged from 2 to 16 years, treatment should begin with 0.03% Protopic 2 ointment and maximal duration of treatment should not exceed 3 weeks. Thereafter the frequency of application is reduced to 1 and treatment is continued until the lesions are completely cleared.

In adults and adolescents 16 years of age and older, treatment should begin with 0.1% Protopic 2 ointment and continue until the lesions are cleared. With improvement, it is possible to reduce the frequency of application of 0.1% ointment or to switch to 0.03% Protopik® ointment. If symptoms recur, treatment should be resumed with 0.1% ointment 2 If the clinical picture allows, an attempt should be made to reduce the frequency of application, or to use 0.03% ointment.
