Our eyes are a complex and sensitive organ. The most important parts of the eye that allow us to see are: cornea, iris, lens, retina, yellow spot and optic nerve.

Various eye injuries and diseases can lead to partial or complete loss of vision.

Eye damage can have many causes:

Mechanical damage - caused by dust or solid bodies such as chips and sawdust, splinters and grit getting into the eye. Dust irritates the eye and can cause inflammation. Solids can penetrate the cornea and injure it.

Optical injuries - caused by radiation. Exposure to intense or prolonged radiation or rapidly changing light intensity may damage the eye. Corneal inflammation and conjunctivitis may occur.

Chemical damage - can be caused by different types of chemicals, e.g. alkalis or acids. A drop of acid can ulcerate the cornea and leave permanent scarring. And a few drops of alkali can damage the entire cornea permanently.

Thermal injuries - caused by too low or high ambient temperatures. Heat causes irritation to the cornea by drying out its surface. Prolonged exposure to cold can lead to frostbite symptoms.

Damage, like diseases of the eye, leads to a variety of complications. One of the most dangerous is retinal dystrophy.

Retinal dystrophy is caused by disruption of the vascular structures of the retina. The disease mostly occurs in the elderly. It causes a gradual deterioration of vision. As the development of the disease affects the photoreceptor cells, colour perception and distance vision are impaired. In its early stages the changes are not critical and may not be noticed for a long time.

Statistics show that retinal dystrophy is fashionable among the three diseases responsible for sight impairment and blindness in patients older than 50 years.

Risk factors for the development of retinal dystrophy:

  • Age - an increased risk of dystrophy is seen between the ages of 50 and 80. In recent years, however, the disease has become considerably "younger" as it occurs more and more frequently in persons of working age;
  • Gender - women are more susceptible to dystrophic changes in the retina;
  • Heredity;
  • Abnormalities of the heart and blood vessels, hypertension, atherosclerosis;
  • Excessive UV exposure - prolonged exposure to the sun on unprotected eyes is as dangerous as prolonged exposure to laser;
  • Smoking;
  • Diabetes mellitus;
  • Unbalanced diet with vitamin and nutrient deficiencies;
  • Pre-existing eye injuries and surgeries.

It is important to prevent the development of dystrophic changes in the retina for as long as possible. A discovery made in 1999 by Günter Blobel showed that proteins are important for every cell in the body, as they control intercellular communication and determine the cell's ability to repair itself. Lack of peptides (with age or pathology) accelerates tissue deterioration and ageing processes and leads to the development of diseases.

How does Ophthalamine work?

Components of Oftalamin derived from bovine eye tissues are a complex of proteins and nucleoproteins with a selective effect on cellular structures of different parts of the eye, which helps to accelerate recovery of disturbed functions of the visual organ.

Through the mechanism of transcytosis, the incoming protein ends up in its unchanged form in the target cell. In this case the target cells are cells of different parts of the visual organ. Once in these cells, Oftalamin saturates the cells with optimal protein "food", allowing them to recover faster and normalize their functions.

Clinical trials of Oftalamin were carried out in 198 patients with ophthalmological pathology, including dystrophic diseases of retina and post-traumatic dystrophy of cornea.

As a result of the carried out research it was found out that at a course of using of Ophthalamine in patients with dystrophic changes of the retina an increase of visual acuity and expansion of the visual fields were determined. Application of Ophthalamine in post-traumatic corneal disorders promoted accelerated restoration of integrity of corneal epithelial layer and increase of visual acuity.

Directions for use:

Ophthalamine recommended to take 1-3 tablets 10-15 minutes before a meal, 2-3 times a day, for 30-45 days. The course is repeated in 3-6 months. Oftalamin has no contraindications and can be used both independently and as part of complex therapy.
