Heparin ointment is a direct-acting anticoagulant. The heparin gradually released from the ointment reduces inflammation and has an antithrombotic effect.
Helps to dissolve existing clots and prevents the formation of new ones. Inhibits thrombin synthesis, reduces platelet aggregation. Inhibits hyaluronidase activity, activates blood fibrinolytic properties.
Indications:
- Prevention and treatment of superficial vein thrombophlebitis;
- Post-injection and post-injection phlebitis;
- external hemorrhoids;
- inflammation of postpartum hemorrhoidal nodes;
- trophic ulcers of the lower leg;
- elephantiasis;
- superficial periphlebitis;
- lymphangitis;
- superficial mastitis;
- localised infiltrates and oedema;
- injuries and contusions without compromising the integrity of the skin (including muscle tissue, tendons, joints);
- subcutaneous haematoma.
How to take, course of treatment and dosage:
The ointment is applied thinly to the affected area (at the rate of 0.5-1 grams per area 3-5 cm in diameter) and gently rubbing the ointment into the skin.
For thrombosis of external haemorrhoidal nodes, apply the ointment to a pad that is placed directly on the thrombosed nodes and fastened in place. A tampon soaked in heparin ointment may also be used for the same purpose and inserted into the anus.
The ointment is applied 2 to 3 times a day every day until the inflammation disappears, on average for 3 to 7 days. A physician will decide whether a longer course of treatment is possible.
