OphthalmoferonŽ is a combined medicine containing the antiviral and immunomodulatory agent interferon alfa-2b human recombinant and the antihistamine diphenhydramine.

Indications:

• Adenoviral, haemorrhagic (enterovirus), herpetic conjunctivitis;
• Adenoviral, herpetic (vesicular, pitting, tree-like, kart-like) keratitis;
• Herpetic stromal keratitis with and without corneal ulceration;
• Adenoviral and herpetic keratoconjunctivitis;
• Herpetic uveitis and keratouveitis (with or without ulceration);
• Dry eye syndrome;
• Prevention of graft disease and prevention of recurrence of herpetic keratitis after keratoplasty;
• Prevention and treatment of complications after excimerlaser refractive corneal surgery.

How to take, course of treatment and dosage:

In viral eye lesions in adults and children in acute stage of disease the drug is injected into conjunctival sac 1-2 drops up to 6-8 times daily. As inflammatory process subsides, the number of drops is reduced to 2-3 times a day until disease symptoms disappear.

In "dry" eye syndrome the drug is applied daily by putting 1-2 drops in a sick eye 2 times a day for 25-30 days until disappearance of symptoms.

For prevention and treatment of complications after excimer laser refractive corneal surgery the drug is used daily, starting from the day of surgery, by putting 1-2 drops in the eye 2 times a day for 10 days.

To prevent graft disease and herpetic keratitis recurrence after keratoplasty the drug is used daily by putting 1-2 drops in the operated eye 3-4 times a day during the first 2 weeks after surgery.
